OneNote will not be supported in Windows 10 from October 2025
“While we continue to invest in a safer, modern and capable experience of notes, we consolidate our efforts in a single OneNoto application on Windows, more powerful,” wrote Bola Soney, One -Setene Product Manager, in a blog article announcing the news.
By rationalizing OneNote, Microsoft promises faster delivery of new features, long -term support and a “base for future innovation in OneNote”.
To go from the classic Windows 10 version of OneNote to the new OneNote application on Windows, users must synchronize their notes, then use the migration tape in the application to “ go to the latest version of OneNote ”.
The new application can be downloaded for free from Microsoft Store, but users must connect with work, school or staff accounts to unlock it.
The blog post also details specific processes for business and training customers.
In the future, Microsoft’s roadmap has many OneNote entries, including a multitude of improvements based on co -pilot such as summary, questions and answers, vocal tools, image management and video and audio previews.
The change onote is only part of a wider change that occurs while Windows 10 makes room for Windows 11. Earlier in June 2025, the adoption of Windows 11 finally caught up with Windows 10 (via Statcounter), before exceeding it a month later.
Soneye concluded by exhoring the users of OneNote to migrate now rather than leaving it until the last minute to avoid disturbances.
