- Microsoft says that North Koreans use advanced tools powered by AI to hide their identity
- Workers are hired by American companies, then steal their sensitive files
- The American government appeals to the campaigns
The North Korean pirates, bringing out their path in high-level technological companies based in the United States, have recently accelerated their efforts, have warned security experts.
In a recent analysis, Microsoft has urged its peers to implement prior verification measures to stricteer employment and to create policies to block unprepared computer management tools.
A more in-depth analysis of the United States government revealed that these people were working on the flight of money for the North Korean government, which then used it to finance its government apparatus and its program of weapons
Stop suspects
The United States has imposed solid sanctions on North Korea which, among other things, prevents American companies from hiring North Korean nationals.
Consequently, the opponents have created false personalities and used all kinds of tools (including VPNs), to hide their true identity and their location, and thus increase their chances of being hired.
Lately, they increased their efforts and started using changing software and improved AI documents to increase their credibility.
They also managed to use a person living in New Jersey, who opened screens companies to encourage victims to think that they paid a local business. This same person would also have helped their peers abroad to be hired.
But the concert seems to be in place, while the United States Ministry of Justice (DOJ) has arrested and accused an American national named Zhenxing “Danny” Wang to lead a program “of several years”. The effort reported more than $ 5 million. Eight other people were also charged – two Taiwanese and six Chinese nationals. They are all now accused of conspiracy in order to commit fraud by wire, money laundering, identity theft, hacking and violations of sanctions.
In addition to being paid for the work done (which, ironically, according to Microsoft, is often stellar), these people also have access to sensitive data from the company. They sometimes abuse this access by stealing the data, then extorting the company.
One of the most important and most destructive hacking collectives in the world is the North Korean group sponsored by the Lazarus State, which has brought billions of dollars to the government thanks to similar regimes. In fact, the whole operation even has a name – “Dreamjob Operation”.
