Miley Cyrus celebrated her 33rd birthday with a simple, elegant celebration and a heartfelt message that reflected her current situation in life.
The singer shared two black and white photos from her party, including a candle and a white cake topped with berries.
Alongside the snaps, she wrote: “33 is already burning thanks to the warmth of your sweet birthday wishes. All I want this year is more laughter with the people who give me the little smile lines that are starting to appear. I love you all.”
Among the many people who sent her their love was her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, who left a short but heartfelt message in the comments: “Happy Birthday Smiley Miley!”
It was a small gesture, but one that shows how far the two have come after a very public family breakup.
The father-daughter relationship was put under strain after Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022.
Miley explained earlier this year that she felt “a lot of loyalty” to her mother, which made this time complicated and emotionally heavy.
She then shared that much of the tension came from enduring “some of my mother’s hurts,” which created distance between her and her father.
But over time, Miley says her perspective has changed.
She said The New York Times she learns to “love them both as individuals rather than as a parental couple.”
In her 30s, she said family had become her priority and she felt relieved knowing that “bridges were built and time did a lot of healing.”
His birthday celebration seems to reflect this feeling of peace.
Earlier this year, she wrote on Instagram: “My dad and I have had our challenges over the years…I have peace knowing that bridges have been built and time has healed a lot.” »
Their renewed bond became even clearer in August, when she surprised Billy Ray with a song she wrote for his birthday called Secrets.
At the time, he shared how touched he was, saying she gave him “the gift of music” and had Fleetwood Mac play on the track.
Now that Miley is 33, it’s clear that the little moments—a black-and-white cake photo, a short birthday comment from her dad, and the quiet rebuilding of family bonds—matter more than ever.
