The Costa Rican authorities have provided an update concerning the investigation into the death of Miller Gardner, the 14 -year -old son of the former New York Yankees player, Brett Gardner.
The director general of the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) of Costa Rican (OIJ), Randall Zúñiga, told journalists at a press conference on Monday that “high levels of carbon monoxide” had been found in the family’s hotel room, and this could have been the cause of the death of the adolescent.
“It is also important to note that alongside [the family’s] Room There is a specialized machine room, from which it is believed that a form of contamination can have reached the rooms, potentially causing the incident, “said Zúñiga in Spanish, via the New York Post.
Zúñiga added that the OIJ informed the local fire service and the Ministry of Health so that they “take the appropriate measures concerning this confirmed contamination in the room” and that the OIJ worked in tandem with the FBI in the United States while they “await the final results of judicial toxicology”.

Brett and his wife Jessica Gardner also said that other family members had fallen sick on vacation.
The first reports suggest that Miller probably died of asphyxiation in his sleep due to food poisoning, although this theory was then minimized.
