ISLAMABAD:
The Electricity Division said Wednesday that the country’s power system remained stable and efficient in February 2026, successfully meeting electricity demand that remained higher than expected.
According to a spokesperson, electricity production and consumption exceeded forecast levels during the month, reflecting increased use of the system. He noted that seasonal factors such as reduced availability of hydrogen, typical of this period, as well as temporary outages of some production units, influenced the overall energy mix. Despite these conditions, the system was carefully managed using established operational protocols.
He said that strict adherence to the merit order distribution mechanism and optimum utilization of available resources ensured effective performance of the system.
