The chicago cubo recipient, Carson Kelly, struck the cycle during the 18-3 rout of the team on athletics on Monday evening at the Sutter Health Park.
Kelly, 30, struck a home run in the fourth round and a single two -rounds in the fifth round and doubled and walked in sixth round.
He had been a triple far from a cycle several times before, and he knew that the chances were stacked against him for having obtained the elusive triple.

“I was in this same position before where I needed a triple for the cycle. If someone has ever looked for my numbers, I have two triples, so the chances are not in my favor, right?” Kelly said after the match.
“I did not do it the first time. This time, I say to myself:” Oh, I’m just going to bring together a good at-bat. “Strong it, like:” Oh yeah, rather well. “Then I hit (first base) and I saw him ricochet, and I said to myself:” Oh my boy, it’s here, I have to go. “It’s probably the fastest that you will never see.”
With the triple of eighth round, Kelly became the first player of the Cubs from Mark thanks to hitting the cycle. The former first goal player did it on May 9, 1993 against the Padres of San Diego. Kelly is the first recipient of the Cubs to strike for the cycle since Randy Hundley did it on August 11, 1966.
Kelly said he knew Grace.

“I also know Mark Grace in Arizona. I will have to hit him,” said Kelly. “Quite special. Great accomplishment. Something I never thought of having. I am just very lucky and blessed. Lots of hard work, many big teammates pump me. So, on the whole, just a very special night.”
Kelly has also become the third major feature to strike for the cycle and walk twice in the same match. Joe Gordon did it for New York Yankees in 1940, and Mickey Cochrane did it in 1937 for the Philadelphia A.
While Kelly knew he was going for the cycle, his manager, Craig Counsell, did not do it.
“I didn’t know he had a chance to make a cycle, but when this ball launched the wall, the canoe started going crazy. So I thought something was happening,” said Counsell. “These are fun days, they are rare days and these are unique days for players.”
