The Special Temporary Staff Assistant of Texas Rangers, Scott Littlefield, died on Friday at 59, the team announced on Saturday.
Littlefield was found dead in his Houston hotel room after an apparent heart attack, USA Today reported. The longtime scout of the MLB would have undergone cardiac surgery two years ago.
“Scott was one of the most respected scouts of Major League Baseball who had an incredible impact on this organization,” said the president of the Rangers, Chris Young, at the point of sale. “His voice had an influence in all aspects of our baseball operation of professional, amateur and international evaluation to the evaluation of the players of the major league. He was an invaluable resource and advisor.”

“More importantly, he was one of the most authentic and attentive individuals of the game.”
The Rangers honored Littlefield as scout of the red jacket of the year in 2019. Littlefield joined the organization in November 2009 and was strongly involved in the team’s scouting department.
Before working with the Rangers, Littlefield spent time with the organizations of Pittsburgh Pirates, Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres. Littlefield won the scout of the year with the Padres in 2007.

Littlefield is the brother of the former Director General of Pirates, Dave Littlefield, and medical coordinator for New York Yankees, Mark Littlefield.
The Rangers will take the ground with Heavy Hearts on Saturday when they face the Miami Marlins at home at 7:05 pm.

The Rangers are 79-75 and lost their last five games. The team was in the running for the third point of the American league, but their losses’ sequence crushed its chances of playoffs.
The Rangers have five games behind the Houston Astros for the third point of the American League. With only eight games to play, the Rangers should make a sequence of wild victories and get a lot of help from the teams in front of them to make the playoffs.
