MNA still restored to receive pending wages

Islamabad:

Eighteen members of the National Assembly (MNA), recently reinstated in the reserved seats, are now awaiting the release of their wages accumulated during their one year suspension.

The Secretariat of the National Assembly is faced with uncertainty as to whether the reintegrated legislators have the right to receive wages for the period of which they have been denified.

The secretariat asked the Council of the Finance Service on the issue, and a final decision is expected during the current session on NA after the speaker approval.

In January 2025, the monthly salary of an MNA was RS730,000. If the pending payments are approved, each of the 18 MNA should receive around 7.1 million rupees as a backwards.

The total disbursement required for the 18 legislators amounts to approximately RS127.8 million. It should be noted that these members were denote on May 13, 2024, following a decision of the Supreme Court.

However, the Apex Court canceled its decision on July 2, 2025 and restored the 18 legislators. Among the restored people are 15 women and three minority representatives.
