Mookie Betts of Dodgers will miss the Tokyo series against Cubs with a persistent disease

Mookie Betts will miss the Tokyo series of Los Angeles Dodgers against Chicago Cubs due to a disease. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts announced the decision on Sunday evening.

Roberts said Betts was starting to feel better, but lost nearly 15 pounds and still tries to rehydrate and gain strength. Roberts added that the eight stars could return to the United States before the team in order to rest and prepare for the country’s first match on March 27.

Cubs and dodgers open the Major Baseball Leagues season on Tuesday at Tokyo Dome. A second match is Wednesday.

“He will not play in these two games,” said Roberts. “When you are dehydrated, this is what opens a person with injuries with soft tissue. We are very aware of it.”

Roberts said Miguel Rojas would start at the Betts stop for the two games at Tokyo Dome.

Betts crossed a light training on Sunday, but tired quickly. He began to suffer from pseudo-grapple symptoms in Arizona, the day before the team’s departure for Japan. He has always made a long trip by plane, but did not recover as quickly as hoped for.

Betts is doing the full-time transition to the stop stop this season after playing most of his career in the right field and the second goal. The 2018 AL MVP struck .289 with 19 circuits and 75 products produced last season, helping the Dodgers win the World Series.
