- More details about the Apple Studio Display 2 have been leaked
- 32-inch and 27-inch models could arrive
- Apple has several product launches planned for next week
We have more details on possible successors to the Apple Studio Display, and it looks like two models are on the way, potentially offering different sizes and specifications to tempt discerning monitor buyers.
The new information comes from Macworld (via MacRumors) and is based on “internal Apple files.” There are two models mentioned in these files, with codes J427 and J527, suggesting that two different Studio Display 2 variants are incoming.
According to the report, we could be about to see a 32-inch Apple Display Studio 2 and a 27-inch Apple Display Studio 2, with the larger model offering a superior audio system and improved port selection, as well as additional screen real estate.
Both models are apparently expected to gain ProMotion support for refresh rates up to 120Hz, while HDR support on both also seems likely. At least one Thunderbolt 5 port, supporting 5K resolution at 120Hz, has been mentioned.
A launch next week?
In terms of design, we do not expect any changes, and no aesthetic adjustments are mentioned in this report. The current Apple Studio Display offers a 27-inch screen and measures up to 23 inches (58.3 cm), depending on the stand you get with it.
This latest report follows several previous leaks surrounding this improved monitor. Given that the first model was released in 2022, a second generation model is definitely expected, potentially with a switch to mini-LED technology for its screen.
In early February, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that delivery times for the Studio Display were starting to decrease, suggesting that a refresh is on the way, with an upgraded internal chip – most likely the A19 used in the iPhone 17.
Gurman estimated that a new model could appear around the beginning of March – and wouldn’t you know it, Apple has a big week of product announcements coming up, starting on Monday. Watch this space.
