Norton Gen’s latest threat report revealed its results concerning the first quarter of 2025 – and although a drop in the total number of blocked attacks can indicate a reduction in threat activity, the finest details reveal much more worrying trends.
He found that data theft threats experienced a huge increase, with an 186% increase in raped files, and the e-mails of raped users alone increased by 102%. This results in more than 1.19 million recordings of “high gravity” or “critical gravity” affected – including passwords in clear text.
