Islamabad:
More than a million Pakistani have left the country for employment abroad during the current financial year, according to the 2024-25 economic survey. The report highlights the trends in the migration of work between the provinces and the regions, the Punjab opens the way for significant margin.
A total of 404,345 people from Punjab went abroad to work, making it the largest contributor to the country’s workforce abroad. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa followed 187,000 workers, while Sindh sent 60,424 people abroad for a job.

The report also notes that 29,937 people in tribal areas and 29,591 from Azad Cashmere have left the country looking for better job opportunities.
Smaller figures have been recorded in the federal capital, with 8,621 workers, Balutchistan with 5,668, and northern areas contributing to 1,692 workers to the global labor market.
Data highlights the essential role of employment abroad in the economy of Pakistan, in particular in terms of funding, and highlights regional disparities in models of migration of work.
