The Motorola Edge 60 merger was officially confirmed to arrive in Australia on May 22, after its launch in the United Kingdom in early April.
At a price of $ 699 at, The Edge 60 Fusion seeks to continue Motorola’s mission to provide mid -range devices for users who want a high quality mobile experience without breaking the bank.
It will be available in Slipstream (Purple), Amazonite (Teal) and Zephyr (Pink) by JB Hi-Fi, The Good Guys, Amazon and Motorola himself, as well as Harvey Norman and OfficeWorks.
Motorola claims that this new model has the brightest display of any phone in this price slice ($ 600 at – $ 950 at) with a brightness of 4,500 nit peak. It also has a “pro-prade” quad-camera system which promises excellent results for users of all skill levels.
This 2025 model is really focused on an improved motorcycle system that promises to simplify daily tasks. With the Moto AI voice assistant, spoken guests like “Catch Me Up” and “Remember and remember”, allow users to quickly get their desired information, and remember the details or the elements for later. This is a great improvement in the AI tools that I tested in the Motorola Edge 50 merger.
He can also transcribe conversations, play music and offer suggestions. But, like the Motorola Edge 50 phones, the Edge 60 Fusion camera promises to be the star here.
A first world for mobile cameras
Motorola takes her photograph seriously. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro is always one of the best cheap camera phones on the market and the EDGE 50 merger has also provided solid results. The EDGE 60 fusion specifications seem to continue this trend.
Motorola’s new phone has the “first Sony Lytia 700c camera in the world validated by Pantone”, which means that you can believe that the colors that your eyes see will result in the results of your camera. And with the video stabilization of the OIS, Motorola says that users will be able to take effortlessness like a pro and out -of -competition photos.
However, its “quad” rear camera is not quite what is done. A deep dive into the list of specifications reveals that it includes two objectives, a flash and a 3 in 1 light sensor, which all go to make it appear as a quad system.
The main 50MP uses the new Sony sensor, and the 13MP ultraid lens has a macro vision with a minimum focal distance of only 3.5 cm. The additional light sensor must be useful in small light situations, while the fourth bump is a flash that will double the torch.
You also get a 32 MP selfie camera that can shoot videos in 4K.
However, its greatest value print can be battery life and sustainability. The improved 5,200 mAh Implée Edge 60 battery should be released a few more hours than the 30 offered by its predecessor, which was already quite impressive to win my Motorola Edge 50 Fusion Review 4.5 stars. The EDGE 60 merger also retains the rapid loading capacity of 68W from its predecessor – promising and 12 overtime in just eight minutes.
The new model also promises to be more sustainable than previous on -board devices. Motorola says that it can manage temperatures from -20 ° C to 60 ° C and maintain regular performance at altitudes up to 4,500 m.
Above all, it has dimensions of resistance to water and dust IP68 and IP69 which mean that it can manage the two long passengers under water (30 minutes to 1.5 m) and the high pressure jets.
Something is still missing, however
Just from its features list, Motorola Edge 60’s merger seems to be one of the best Budget phones in Australia. Between its set of improved cameras, its brighter display, its best battery and durability, it is an attractive affordable option for a variety of users.
However, Motorola still offers only three years of software support and four years of security updates – the same promise of support that we saw for the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Pro. It is disappointing since the Moto G75 and Edge 50 NEO received five years of Android OS upgrades.
In a budget price tranche, this harms its long -term value.
Take the Samsung Galaxy A56 of $ 699 to the example, which, I think, is the best budget phone currently available. Although it offers excellent experience for the average user at half the price of a flagship phone, it also provides six years of software and security support to ensure that it is a device that you can use for years to come.
Likewise, the Google Pixel 9a at $ 849 A Seven years of updates to the operating system. Even the Nothing Phone 3a Pro, which offers only three years of Android updates, compensates with six years of security fixes.
Thus, even if the Motorola Edge 60 fusion seems to offer high value – and could go aside with the Galaxy A56 – it is tarnished by the lack of software support.
However, I was very impressed by Motorola’s budget in 2024 despite their low support offer, so I can’t wait to see what the EDGE 60 merger has in store.
