Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch officially presented his letter of reference to the director general of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, marking his appointment as permanent delegate of Pakistan to the organization.
After the ceremony, Baloch and Azoulay held a productive meeting, discussing the areas of collaboration between Pakistan and UNESCO, in particular in education, culture and science.
Baloch congratulated UNESCO’s programs and policies, providing total support to advance the organization’s global mission in its role as vice-president of the board of directors.
The two parties have agreed to improve cooperation in education, science and cultural heritage, recognizing the growing potential of Pakistan to contribute to UNESCO’s objectives.
Azoulay praised the appointment of Baloch, highlighting Pakistan’s continuous commitment to UNESCO and its important contributions to the organization’s initiatives.
Baloch, an experienced career diplomat with 30 years of experience, held key diplomatic positions in Washington, Beijing and Geneva.
She was also an ambassador of Pakistan to the Republic of Korea and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
