My year of Oxford The end is significantly different from the novel on which it is based.
The story follows the American graduate student Anna (Sofia Carson) during her year in Oxford, where she falls in love with her teacher Jamie (Corey Mylchreest), after having initially decided to keep things relaxed.

Anna then discovers that the real reason behind her lack of commitment is a rare form of terminal cancer. In the book, Jamie travels Europe with Anna before dying.
However, in the film, Anna sits at her bedside as he walks away. She only imagines the adventures with him, then he faded from the scenes, revealing that he could never travel with her.
The lead stars Sofia and Corey explain how it has become Reine Charlotte Star first and above all clarifying the ambiguous end of the film, declaring: “The guy is dead”.
“It’s better like that,” he added gently. “It’s more powerful. This is the direction in which the book is heading, and it would look like hypocrisy for Jamie to speak all these things and so that Anna understands this philosophy of life [and not end there]. “”
“What is impressive is that Jamie believes all these things – is always made up of now – and he doesn’t have much time,” added Corey.
“So what is really incredible is that he does all of that and believes all these things with a little time. If it was not true, it would seem that we undervalue his beliefs,” he explained more.
Weighing, Sofia said: “Even if it is clear that Anna is alone at the end, we left her a little ambiguous because we wanted the film to end with hope and with light.”
“This is why we wanted to show them to live all these things together,” she continued. “And then when he disappears and when he left and you assume that she lost it, this element of hope and the idea of life after love and life after loss is a really powerful thing.”
