Na Panel Slams NHA official absence

Islamabad:

On Wednesday, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly expressed a major concern in the face of the repeated absence of NHA officials, urging the action under parliamentary rules.

During his 13th meeting, chaired by MNA Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, the committee qualified the absence of contempt for the parliamentary procedure and the agenda elements linked to the deferred NHA.

The members of the Committee unanimously condemned the repeated and unrealized absence of the secretary and the president of the NHA, urging the president to take measures on what they called a contempt for the parliamentary procedure.

It was pointed out that Parliament represents the voice of the nation, and that the last-minute notifications or the non-compliance with meetings undermines its authority and its credibility.

The notice of meeting was duly issued on September 10, with sufficient intimate time in the ministry.

However, no prior communication concerning the Prime Minister’s directives or the unavailability of civil servants was received up to a day before the meeting.
