Islamabad:
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on the Cabinet Secretariat approved the 2024 civil servant bill (amendment) with a majority vote on Thursday.
The bill offers several provisions, including the compulsory declaration of assets for government employees, accelerate the right sizing process and the abolition of redundant services.
In accordance with the bill for modification, all government employees will have to declare their assets. The federal government is empowered to abolish or merge the departments that are dormant or have become a financial burden.
The bill also proposed that redundant employees be dismissed after offering them a financial package instead of placing them in an excess basin. PBS1-5 jobs will be outsourced in the private sector to reduce retirement bills.
The bill also recommends age relaxation for the recruitment of civil servants. Young officers can be granted up to 10 years of relaxation for new meetings.
Various members expressed their concerns concerning the modifications proposed at the meeting. The chief of the PML-N, Tahira Aurangzeb, argued that the dismissal of employees from 1 to 5, would result in an increase in crime.
