The National Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Monday expressing a strong solidarity on Monday with the oppressed people of Palestine and condemning the Israeli atrocities in progress in Gaza.

The resolution, presented by the Federal Minister of Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, urged the United Nations to take immediate measures to stop the Israeli aggression and play an active role in the reconstruction of Gaza torn by the war. The legislators of the whole political spectrum participated in the debate, strongly denouncing Israeli actions and expressing the support of the Palestinian cause.

“This house requires that the brutality committed by Israeli forces be immediately arrested,” said the resolution. “The house greets the 60,000 Palestinian martyrs and strongly condemns the bomb attacks even after the announcement of a cease-fire. The Israeli aggression is a failure of the international community.”

The resolution also required the immediate withdrawal of the Israeli forces of the Palestinian territories.

Tarar, while he was addressed to the house, said that Pakistan’s position on Israel is in accordance with the vision of the founder of the country, Quaid-Ezam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. “The Quaid had clearly indicated that Pakistan would not support the Zionist state and that the current government is firmly standing on this principle,” he said.

He highlighted the magnitude of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, noting that more than 65,000 Palestinians were martyred, with more than 100,000 seriously injured. “A new chapter of Brutality has been written in Palestine, where innocent civilians – including children, women and the elderly – have not been spared,” he said.

The minister of Law said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has forcefully raised the question of Israeli oppression to all international forums. “The inhabitants of Palestine more than ever need the support of the global community,” he said.

He also established parallels between the situations of Gaza and the cashmere occupied by India, reiterating that the two problems must be resolved in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

“Our national position on Palestine is clear and consistent. Whether Palestine or Cashmere, votes for self -determination can be silenced by dialogue, but not by force and violence,” concluded the minister.
