The national database and the registration authority (NADRA) has introduced an improved version of the national identity card without a chip, offering improved security, accessibility and accessibility.
The update aims to provide citizens from digital features, which were earlier limited to identity cards based on fleas, while maintaining a cost lower than that of intelligent NICs.
Other updates include:
Bilingual information: Details on the card are provided in English and outer for consistency with passports and official documents.
Integration of the QR code: The card includes a QR code, allowing users to access their digital identity via the PAK ID mobile application.
In comparison, a CNIC based on a chip holds relevant data from the holder, while could be used for various purposes, without internet connection.
Special advantages for organ donors: Registered organ donors will have a unique symbol on their map and will benefit from validity for life.
Exclusive characteristics for disabled people: Cards for people with disabilities include separate markers and validity for life.
The new card is available for renewal, modification of data or replacement in the event of loss.
The price of the identifier not for improved chip is as follows:
Normal: RS400 (31 days delivery)
Urgent: RS1 150 (15 -day delivery)
Executive: RS2 150 (delivery at 9 days)
First candidates aged 18: free (normal category)
In addition, Nadra has also revised the structure of the Smart CNIC fees for 2025. The new intelligent CNICs have now cost RS750 for normal, RS1,500 for urgent and RS2,500 for executive treatment.
These updates are part of Nadra’s continuous efforts to modernize national identification systems and support digital governance in Pakistan.
