The national database and the registration authority (NADRA) has announced the publication of computerized national identification cards (CNIC) for unique life for disabled and organ donors.
These cards will include a wheelchair symbol to facilitate identification and easier access to services.
According to a spokesperson for the Nadra, the Pakistani government has approved the changes in the 2002 national identity card rules.
As part of these modifications, Nadra will publish special identity cards for people with disabilities and those who have donated organs, aimed at improving their convenience and recognition.
The new identity cards for disabled people will be lifetime cards, with the logo in a wheelchair. These will be available for the two Pakistani citizens living in the country and those who live abroad.
In addition, juvenile identity cards (forms B) for special children will also wear the wheelchair symbol.
Registration with relevant federal or provincial authorities will be compulsory for disabled people to obtain these cards.
In addition, organ donors will receive a special life card with a wheelchair and a symbol of donors, provided they are registered with the registration authorities for competent donors.
Nadra has confirmed that the notification concerning these modifications will be published in the next Pakistan gazetteAfter which the changes will be officially applied.
Earlier, Nadra closes his website and replaces it with a mobile application for all services, due to fraud problems and difficulties faced by citizens, especially Pakistanis abroad.
The new application will provide services such as national identity cards, Nicop, POC, B forms, etc. The website will be disabled from January 17.
In addition, Nadra plans to open three new regional centers in Azad Jammu and Cashmire, Gwadar and Gilgit-Baltistan by March 31, 2025, to improve the provision of services in the distant regions.
The government is also working on the creation of Nadra offices in 19 remaining Tehsils across Pakistan.
Some police officials have reported abusive use of the Nadra online verification system, providing sensitive data to criminals and crooks.
In response, Nadra has implemented 24 -hour passport treatment counters in mega centers in big cities like Karachi and Islamabad.
