Nascar Xfinity series: Austin Hill won the controversial race

Austin Hill won his second victory for the 2025 season in the Nascar Xfinity series on Saturday evening in Martinsville Speedway, but he came with controversy at the end.

The race went to overtime and with two laps to do, Sammy Smith jumped in front and fighting against Brandon Jones and Taylor Gray for first place. Hill was outside the first five. While the drivers were heading for the backstretch, a few cars entered the wall, but no yellow flag was greeted.

Gray took the lead when entering the last round but had Justin Allgaier on his bumper. It seemed that the race was going to be summed up in Gray, Smith and Allgaier, but in the final round, driving has become more aggressive.

Smith slammed at Gray’s back during the last round and removed it from the track and outside the first place. Jones then entered the rear of Gray and Allgaier tried to climb the track first. But their cars also slipped the track and it was Hill who slipped inside with a little push by Sheldon Creed to win the victory.

A massive wreckage occurred when the cars crossed the end -of -end line.

No one seemed to be satisfied with the end of the race. The star of the Nascar Cup Denny Hamlin series made his thoughts known with hours to go before his race in Martinsville.

“Absolute Garbage”, he wrote on X. “God, I would have liked to be in the stand. I am dismissed, but I would really call these idiots.”

Gray told CW Sports that he felt like he was “the best car all day”.

“It’s unfortunate. It’s the same story that I have lived here for two years, for two Martinsville (race) in a row,” he said. “It sucks, but that’s what it is.”

Athletics has caught a confrontation between Smith and Gray outside the interior care center. Harrison Burton also confronted Smith.

Smith spoke of the last laps with journalists.

“I know that everyone is going to be crazy and upset by me and say that I am a dirty driver, but I don’t care because everyone does,” he said, via Fox Sports. “And if I was just going to accept it and finish second today, then it just was not going to stay well with me.”
