President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, decided to return to Pakistan from London on an urgent basis, party sources confirmed on Tuesday.

According to sources, the former Prime Minister is expected to arrive in the country on Wednesday, although no official declaration has yet been published by the party leadership.

The decision comes in the midst of crucial internal deliberation reports within the PML-N, while the party is preparing for key political developments.

Party officials said Nawaz Sharif summoned his brother, former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, to Jati Umra’s family residence on April 25 for an emergency briefing on sources described as an “important question”.

In addition to the meeting with Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz should also organize a series of high-level consultations with the high leaders of the PML-N this weekend, extending from Friday to Sunday.

The nature of the discussions has not been disclosed, but the initiates suggest that they can relate to the internal strategy of the party and to national political planning.

Sharif, which has lived in London since 2019 for medical treatment, has returned briefly to Pakistan in October 2023 after a prolonged self-imposed exile and has since actively reeveloped the processes of management and decision-making of the party.
