- NBN CO has announced its half -yearly results
- 594,000 houses have accepted free fiber upgrade

NBN CO revealed its half -yearly results until December 31, 2024, including data concerning the number of households which have so far adopted its free upgrade offer of fibers.
The NBN Co fiber upgrade program has only been in force for two and a half years, and during this period, some 594,000 houses have improved the technology of their full fiber house to the premises (FTTP) – of which 217,000 were completed in the second half of 2024 – it is currently capable of supporting the fastest NBN 1000 plans and the incoming level of 2 Gbit / s expected in September.
A large majority of Australian houses connected to the NBN fixed line network are already eligible for upgrading, or should be eligible by December 2025. NBN CO said it was “on the right output to finish Level to the network of local fibers which will allow 3.5 million houses and companies served by fiber at the node (FTTN) and 1.5 million premises served by the sidewalk fiber (FTTC) to go to FTTP ”.
In addition, earlier this year, NBN CO announced that it would improve the latest copper houses and connected to the FTTN by 2030 thanks to a joint investment of NBN CO and the Australian government. It is estimated that some 622,000 houses will benefit from this investment, with more than half located in regional Australia.
In addition to these figures for its fixed line network, NBN CO has also revealed in its latest press releases that its improved fixed wireless network is now available for “approximately 90% of the enlarged footprint”. In addition, the network supplier explores new satellite internet options to replace the aging sky hunting network.
All on board the upgrade train
Given the attractive combination of many other houses eligible for upgrading and the greatest value of the fastest NBN plans, there has never been a better time to upgrade. Not only does a broadband internet plan (those that provide upload speeds for 100 Mbps or faster) naturally mean that file downloads and flows can be completed more quickly, but the full fiber infrastructure is also more reliable and Less sensitive to breakdowns.

If you are, all you have to do is find one of the best NBN suppliers and register for a NBN 100, NBN 250 or NBN 1000 plan. As mentioned above, the hyperfast plans of 2 Gbps are expected in September this year. Not only will this introduce a higher level of speed among the best NBN plans, but this will also lead to an increase in speed of current options. A NBN 100 plan, for example, will see its maximum theoretical speed increase to 500 Mbps.
