The age of compensation for athletes in university sports could become much more complicated with a decision of the current Supreme Court.

A regulation in the House c. NCAA would allow all schools in division I to share income directly with athlete students if it receives final approval this month.

The current Nile compensation system, in fact since the summer of 2021, has been faced with its share of control. But universities directly paying athletes would simply erase “amateurism” which historically defined American university sports.

The former NFL football player and the college Jack Brewer is strongly opposed to the concept.

“We have to go back to students athletes,” Brewer told PK Press Club Digital.

“If a person wants freedom to earn as much money as they wish and can exploit sport to do so, they should absolutely be able – and they can, in our professional leagues. But there is no room for an unlimited amount to pay people in university sports. It should be students -athletes, which he signed to be.”

Brewer argued that income sharing would aggravate a problem created by Nile since its legalization in 2021 – Decrease in diploma rates.

“You will continue to see students who no longer focus on school because their incentive to go to university is no longer to get an education, but to earn money,” said Brewer. “It is not good for universities to exploit this escape, recruiting student-athletes who no longer have to focus on students.”
