NDMA accused of failing to flood victims

Hyderabad:

The management of Awami Tehreek strongly sentenced federal and provincial governments for their inability to protect citizens during recent heavy rains at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan, where more than 300 people have lost their lives.

In a joint declaration, the central president of Awami Tehreek, defender of Rasool Bux Palijo, the central secretary general, the defender of Sajid Hussain Mahesar, the vice-president Sattar Rind, the defender of the leaders Ismail Khaskheli, Mir Basheer Talpur and the Noor Nabi Palijo lives. They held the government responsible for the human tragedy on a large scale, accusing it of not having provided rescue operations in a timely time and precise information to the public.

The leaders allegedly alleged that the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) had “swallowed billions of rupees in the name of natural disasters” but did not do much to save or rehabilitate the victims. “The NDMA limited itself to counting the dead instead of providing actual assistance,” the statement said.

They also warned that the Sindh should also face heavy rains, but neither the Sindh government nor the provincial or national disaster management authorities (PDMA / NDMA) have made adequate preparations. “If the governments had hierarchical lives to make money on disasters, people would have been spared so huge human and financial losses,” the leaders said.
