An important gas discovery at the SOHO-1 exploratory well in the SUJAWAL BLOC, SINDH, was announced by Mari Energies Limited (MPCL), formerly known as Mari Petroleum.
As a single operator with 100% working interest in the block, Mari Energies confirmed the standard gas gas of 30.01 million standard feet (MMSCFD) to a 64/64 ”strangulation size with a well pressure of 1,482.5 psi, Express News reported on Friday.
At 32/64 ”, the property poured from 18.84 MMSCFD to a higher pressure of 3,447.8 psi.
The company noted that this marks the first discovery of successful gas in the lower form of Goru in the Sujawal block, an area previously deemed unproductive.
Other tests are underway on additional training to assess the full potential of discovery.
Earlier, Pakistan discovered a second major oil and gas reserve in the Waziristan block, located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking key development in the country’s energy sector.
According to MPCL, the Spin WAM-1 well produces approximately 20.485 million cubic feet of gas per day and 117 barrels of light crude oil, with a 3,431 PSI well.
MPCL has a 55% stake in the block, while OGDCL holds 35% and Orient Petroleum holds 10%.
Energy experts believe that this area has a strong potential for future discoveries, offering hope for greater energy security and reduced dependence on imports.
