- Apple’s rumable foldable iPhone has been detailed in a new report
- It contains a few surprises relating to the price and to the touch
- He is probably still a few years old from the launch
Samsung and Google have produced some of the best foldable phones in recent years, but Apple has been visibly absent. This may not have been the case for a long time, however, because a new report has presented the company’s folding iPhone plans in attractive details. Look carefully and you will find some surprises.
The testimony comes from Apple Ming-Chi Kuo analyst, who has a solid experience for Apple leaks. In the report, Kuo described his expectations for the starting price of the aircraft, his features and how he could sell. Here is the drop.
1. an enticing price
Folding phones command a premium price, and it seems that Apple’s attempt will not be different. Kuo estimates that the foldable iPhone will sell “above $ 2,000”, the price is potentially up to $ 2,500 (£ 2,000 $ 4,000 in).
Given the most expensive current iPhone – the iPhone 16 Pro Max – starts at $ 1,199 / £ 1 199 £ / 2,149 $ in, which represents a massive increase in the price of a flagship iPhone. It is also a decent part above what you will pay for the high-end foldables of Samsung and Google, which both charge about $ 1,800 for their devices.
However, this price may not have any importance. Given the high -level reputation of the iPhone and the faithful Apple fans base, Kuo thinks that the device “will generate a high demand for replacement … provided that the quality meets expectations”.
Mass production will apparently start in the fourth quarter of 2026 and Apple is expected to sell 3.5 million units, explains Kuo. A second generation model is expected to enter mass production in the second half of 2027 and could sell 20 million units.
2. I have first
Artificial intelligence (AI) is fashionable for the moment, and Apple is done in the act with its own Apple intelligence system (although defective). It will be in the center of the foldable iPhone, said Kuo, with the device positioned as a “real phone piloted by AI”.
This means that it will come with “multimodal functionalities and cross integration,” explains Kuo. “Larger screens [will] Improve the AI experience “, he believes,” allowing scenarios like chatting with a chatbot on travel plans while viewing a full card application simultaneously. “”
In other words, expect a really new generation iPhone that has been cruelly necessary for several years now.
3. A book style design

The foldable iPhone will apparently adopt a “book design”, according to Kuo, with a vertical fold rather than the one that crosses the peripheral horizontally. This means that it is probably a Rival Galaxy Fold 7 (or perhaps an alternative Galaxy Z Plé 8 at this stage).
Above all, it will be without folds, and the hinge would have “combined the alloy in stainless steel and titanium, while the case opts for titanium alloy”, reports Kuo.
As for the size, the device will be apparently delivered with a 7.8 -inch interior screen and a 5.5 -inch outdoor screen. It will have a thickness of 9 mm to 9.5 mm when folded, the ratio claims and 4.5 mm to 4.8 mm thick when it is unfolded.
This would make the iPhone fold (or whatever it is finally called) slightly thicker than the Oppo finds N5, which is 8.93 mm thick when it is folded. But the camera bump will probably add a few millimeters to the total thickness anyway.
4. Touch ID comes back
When the iPhone 16th replaced the iPhone SE, Apple has progressed touch touch in all its iPhones. Or is that? According to Kuo, Touch ID will return to the foldable iPhone. He will apparently find his way in a side button, which seems to recall the touch button of the ID in the iPad air.
Why could this old technology make a comeback when the ID face is more secure? Kuo declares that “the face ID can be absent due to the thickness and constraints of internal space”.
5. A double camera configuration

Do you want you as a photographer? The foldable iPhone may not be your first choice in this case, because Kuo thinks it will be delivered with a network of double-objective cameras.
This will probably be a little less advanced than the Triple Objective configuration that you get with the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The double -objective camera reflects an earlier report on the Apple foldable iPhone of the leak
There will also probably be a front camera, and Kuo says you can expect “a front camera [to be] Available in folded and unfolded states. »»
6. An ultra-thin battery
Kuo quickly discussed the lifespan of the foldable iPhone battery, which, according to him, will include “the same high density battery cells as the iPhone 17 ultra-thin”. This is probably a reference to the air of the iPhone 17 (or how it will eventually be called), an iPhone Super-Slim that should be launched in September this year.
However, we do not know what battery time expects from the foldable iPhone. But given Apple’s past marketing habits, it could well be presented as “a day’s battery life” despite its thin design.
