New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone reacted on Sunday to the heartbreaking revelation Brett Gardner and his wife, Jessica, did about their youngest son, Miller.
Miller Gardner died after falling ill during his vacation with his family, the Gardner family said in a press release published by the Yankees. Details on where the Gardner family spent a vacation and what Miller died was not clear.

“We are talking about the family all the time and even if Brett has left for a few years, it does not stop,” Boone told journalists, via the New York Post. “Many people in there [the clubhouse] who know this family intimately. It’s a very difficult day and a very difficult news. “”
Boone said all that the team could do now was to support Gardner and his family during the difficult period.
“The best we can, we will pray for the Gardner family and where we can offer support,” added Boone. “It’s a bit unimaginable that, unfortunately, that’s where we are. Very sad. Very hard.”

The tragic revelation was made earlier on Sunday. Gardner played for Yankees from 2008 to 2021, including years under Boone.
“With heavy hearts, we are saddened to announce the death of our youngest son, Miller. He was 14 years old and left us far too early after having fallen ill with several other family members on vacation,” said their declaration. “We have so many questions and so few answers at this stage, but we know that he died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Friday, March 21.
“Miller was a beloved son and brother and we cannot yet understand our life without his contagious smile. He loved football, baseball, golf, hunting, fishing, family and friends. He has lived life as much as possible every day.”
