Newer LG OLED TVs get a great free Dolby Atmos upgrade: get true surround sound without a soundbar, AV receiver or wires

  • LG C5, G5 and C5S 2025 models can now work as Dolby Atmos FlexConnect hubs
  • Full compatibility with LG Sound Suite wireless speakers and subwoofers
  • Supports configurations of up to 22 speakers and subwoofers

LG has upgraded its 2025 C5, CS5, and G5 TVs to support Dolby Atmos FlexConnect as a hub, working with LG’s new Sound Suite speakers, allowing you to place your speakers just about anywhere in the room while still getting precise audio positioning as if you had them in the normal front and rear surround sound positions.

The update brings Dolby Atmos FlexConnect to all three models, allowing them to connect directly to the Sound Suite M5 and M7 wireless speakers and W7 subwoofer, combining the TV speakers with the other speakers. As FlexConnect hubs, the TVs analyze the sound from the speakers and adjust their output so they sound great no matter where you’ve placed them. I’ll explain FlexConnect in more detail in a moment.

The only downside is that while Dolby Atmos FlexConnect will be available on speakers from several manufacturers, LG TVs will only work as hubs with LG-compatible speakers.

In a FlexConnect system, you can place the speakers anywhere convenient, and the system will locate and calibrate them. (Image credit: Future)
