Houston Astros Center defender Taylor Trammell confiscated his bat during the ninth round of the 8-4 defeat of the team against New York Yankees on Thursday in Daikin Park.

Trammell, 27, snatched a double of the Yankees closer to David Bednar at the top of the ninth round, and the manager Aaron Boone asked the referees to take a look at the bat.

Marble referee Adrian Johnson gathered the bat and the four referees converged to discuss. Johnson also communicated with the rereading office of Major League Baseball in New York before putting the bat to an official, which won.

“It was just something that we noticed this series and asked the League,” Boone told journalists after the match, via ESPN. “You are not allowed to do anything at your bat. I am not saying it was. I … we noticed, and the league thought it may be illegal too.”
