While the main democratic figures are throwing excuses to allow trans athletes to female sports, conservative criticisms have capitalized on inconsistent messages.
Last week, California Governor Gavin Newsom said on his podcast that he thought that the Trans athletes participating in female sports were “deeply unfair” but that this legally defended him because of concerns about transgender as “poor” who are “more likely to commit suicide, to suffer from anxiety and depression”.
When Hakeem Jeffries’ minority chief was asked about Newsom’s comments, Jeffries repeated the unfounded affirmation that the laws of trans -grooming athletes “would release” sexual predators on girls across the country. It was the same argument that Jeffries provided when the House of Representatives voted to adopt the protection of women and girls in sport in April.
The representative of the state of Maine, Laurel Libby, who recently rose as a key political figure of the battle to protect female athletes against trans inclusion, spoke out against Newsom and Jeffries in an interview on the “Gains for Girls” podcast of Outkick with Riley Gaines.
Libby said she thought that recent comments from Newsom “do not mean anything.”
“I do not think that we are going to see Gavin Newsom do anything on this subject, and it is the equivalent of” to what extent does the wind blow here? “” Said Libby. “Gavin Newsom is an intelligent political animal, and he understands that 80% of Americans do not agree with biological men in girls’ sports, so he takes a little common sense position here.
“It has certainly transformed the Democrats into a fall, because they don’t know what to do with them.”

Libby gained importance on the issue after a social media position in February, when she identified a Trans athlete in Maine who won a school jump competition from the school while the state defies the executive order of President Donald Trump to keep the Trans Sports for Girls athletes.
Libby was then censored for the post by the Maine House of Representatives, but Tuesday she filed a complaint against the President of the State Chamber so that her voting and speech rights are restored.
Meanwhile, Gaines targeted Jeffries for his argument, which alienated several democratic voters after he was pushed by him and other Democratic legislators, which prompted some of these voters to unsubscribe from the party.
“I guess that he insinuates that we want to inspect the genitals, that’s always what they go, but again, that is absolutely not the case, it would be completely invasive and in total violation,” said Gaines.
“It would be either a birth certificate, which, I do not think, is satisfactory, because in all states except six, you can modify your birth certificates; the cheeks, which we have seen in a place which is a simple saliva test to determine sex; or a routine physique, that each athlete, I think, in each state, must already cross anyway.

The apologies of Newsom and Jeffries prompted reactions in reaction in a recent national uprising on the issue.

After Jeffries and other Democrats in the Chamber, including representative Alexandria Ocasion-Cortez, DN.Y., pushed the argument that the protection of women and girls in sport would allow sexual predators to give genitals to little girls, the party officially lost certain voters.
Rutgers’ law professor Gary Francione, a Democrat for life, previously told PK Press Club Digital that he and other members of his network have not registered as Democrats in response to the argument.
“I can say with confidence people that I know who are democrats to whom I have spoken, the vast majority of them are very unhappy with all of this and think that the party has lost its way,” said Francione. “I know a couple who said they were going [unregister]. “”
Trump has promised to reduce federal funding to any state or public institution which continues to allow trans athletes with women and girls. He showed that he was ready to make this promise on Tuesday, when the USDA reduced millions of funds in eight universities in Maine.
