“Playing in the very first match of the NFL of Ireland is an opportunity to present new fans to the Vikings of Minnesota and to help the League continue to make the football game more accessible worldwide,” said the owner of the Vikings team, Mark Wilf, in a press release. “To do this, against a legendary franchise like the Pittsburgh Steelers adds a unique challenge that makes it even more special.
“We are honored to be selected for this historic game and we will be impatient to see what promises to be an electric play environment at Croke Park.”
