More than 30 prospects realized their NFL dreams on Thursday evening. Over the next two days, hundreds of others will hear their names called the NFL 2025 draft.
Kelly Stafford, wife of the Super Bowl Matthew Stafford winner, knows what it is to support a football player during the draft process. Matthew was the first choice of the 2009 draft.
During a recent edition of her podcast “Morning After”, Kelly was invited to know where she was the night when her husband was drafted by the Lions of Detroit.
New York organized this year’s draft, but Kelly said she was not at the event. She then explained if the other players of the players should be included on the evening of the draft.

She seemed to argue against the prospects of the NFL having friends with them on the big day.

“I do not see why the guys do it because, if they are drafted, and you have your whole family, and you are in the project, and you have your girlfriend and the girlfriend in the project photos. And then, suddenly, the girlfriend is gone. You have no photos of draft without a random girl, and I know she is not serious when you take it.

Later during the podcast, Kelly mentioned how sometimes couples are debating the inclusion of a brother’s partner in the wedding party if the couple is not engaged.
“It’s like having your brother’s girlfriend in your wedding when they are not engaged. And then, all of a sudden, do you know what I mean? You have all these photos with your family and the girlfriend of the brother – and not mine, because mine [brother Chad Hall] I got married to [sister-in-law] Rose, so we were good. For example, what happens if Rose has not married Chad, and she is in all my wedding photos, “said Kelly.

Matthew spent the first 12 years of his career with the Lions. The Rams acquired Stafford in an exchange of superproductions that sent Jared Goff to Detroit.
While the Podcast “Morning After” occasionally addresses football, staff and co-host Henry Winchester tackle a wide range of other subjects, including browsing friendships and parenting.
“I am very vulnerable throughout this podcast,” said Kelly, “because I feel safe in this community, that’s why I love it.”
