An NFL employee would have been “seriously injured” during the mass shot that occurred at 345 Park avenue in Midtown Manhattan, which houses the headquarters of the League.
The office building, which is on 52nd Street and Park Avenue, was the site of a tragic mass shooting which left five dead, including a police officer, when a shooter unleashed fire inside before committing suicide.
The NFL commissioner Roger Goodell sent a message, obtained by PK Press Club Digital, to all the employees of the League announcing the traumatic event.

“As was largely reported, a shooter committed an unspeakable act of violence in our building at 345 Park Avenue. One of our employees was seriously injured in this attack,” said the message. “He is currently in the hospital and in a stable state. NFL staff are in the hospital and we support their family.
“We believe that all of our employees are otherwise safe and taken into account, and the building has almost been authorized.”
Goodell added to pay attention to all opinions with emergency information, as the situation remained fluid.
New York shooting: What to know about Shane Tamura, shooter who killed 4, including the NYPD COP in the center of Manhattan
An officer of the NYPD killed during the shooting was identified as Didarul Islam, 36, an immigrant from Bangladesh who left two sons and a pregnant woman, according to the NYPD. He was one of the two uniform officers at 345 Park Avenue when the shooting occurred, although he was on leave on Monday as security for the Rudin management company inside the building.
“We are deeply grateful to agents responsible for the application of laws who responded quickly and decisively to this threat and to the officer of Islam, who gave his life to protect others,” wrote Goodell.
New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch identified the shooter, who acted alone, as Shane Tamura, 27, a resident of Las Vegas with history of mental health problems.

Tisch said Tamura had traveled the Cross-Country, her vehicle being seen for the last time in Columbia, New Jersey, at 4:24 p.m. which was not long before triggering a fire dam in the high-rise building.
The security video shows that Tamura enters the hall at 345 Park avenue and immediately opening fire, pulling several people. He then shot a security goalkeeper behind a desk with a M4 assault rifle, said Tisch.
Tamura waited for an elevator, where he allowed a woman to leave unscathed before taking her to the 33rd floor. He started to shoot and kill another person before suicide finally, the police said.
Tamura was allowed to carry a hidden weapon in Nevada.
The NYPD erases each floor of the building to ensure that everyone was safe, and no other shooter was present.

As part of his letter to the employees, Goodell mentioned the League resources which are available to help employees manage the tragic event.
“As you know, there are important resources available to all employees, including mourning advisers,” wrote Goodell. “Little time, HR will send you more information on available resources and how to take advantage of it.
“Those based in New York should work from a distance tomorrow. It is understandable that you prefer to take a day off. There will be a increase in increased security at 345 Park Avenue in the days and weeks to come.
Each of you is a precious member of the NFL family. We will pass through it together. “”
