NFL news: CeeDee Lamb and Michael Irvin want the Cowboys to pay this star

It seems the Dallas Cowboys still find themselves in a financial conundrum.

With Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb alone accounting for nearly 37% of the team’s cap space, there’s not much to be done.

It got to the point where perennial Defensive Player of the Year candidate Micah Parsons was traded just a week before the start of the NFL season last year. Now the Cowboys are facing a similar problem after George Pickens’ career year.

But current and former Cowboys stars want Pickens in the blue and silver no matter what.

Lamb said he “absolutely” wants to see Pickens get his sack back, especially from the Cowboys.

“Let’s make this happen,” Lamb told PK Press Club Digital on the radio.

Legendary wide receiver Michael Irvin also said Pickens should stay in Arlington.

“[Jerry Jones has] I’ve been on the edge of a lot of things, but this year you have the ability to create a lot of space, a lot of ceiling. And I think they should run away. You’ve got to sign George Pickens, and you’ve got to do it early so he can get to training camp and get through his second year,” Irvin added. “And then you’ve got to put all your attention on this defense, and then you’ll have a chance.”

After three seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pickens was acquired by the Cowboys in a trade last year and posted career-best marks with 93 receptions for 1,429 yards and nine touchdowns.

Pickens is a free agent since the Steelers did not exercise his fifth-year option before trading him. He made just over $1.6 million last year, but Spotrac has a market value of over $30 million per year.

With Pickens facing Lamb, Prescott’s 4,552 yards were the second most of his career, and he led the NFL with 404 completions.
