The Indianapolis colts announced on Tuesday the winner of their quarter-arre competition.
Head coach Shane Steichen said Daniel Jones would be a quarter-back from the team during week 1 when they face Miami Dolphins at a press conference. Jones beat the old global choice n ° 4 Anthony Richardson for the post.
“He is our quarter-back leaving for the season,” said Steichen via the Colts website. “I don’t want to have a quick leash on this subject. I feel confident in his abilities.”

Jones and Richardson divided the representatives of the first team throughout the training camp and the first two pre-season games, which Jones will now take exclusively.
During two pre-season games, Jones finished 17 of the 32 passes for 245 yards without affected or interceptions. Richardson left the first pre-season match with an injury after only six shots, finishing 2 of the 3 passes for 21 yards.
During the second pre-season match of the colts against the Green Bay packers, Richardson finished 6 of the 11 passes for 73 yards.
Jones signed a one -year agreement with the colts during the offseason.

The 28 -year -old was released by New York Giants in the middle of last season after 10 games, then signed with the Minnesota Vikings for the rest of the year. He did not appear in a match with Minnesota.
Jones started 69 career games and has a 24-44-1 file. Last season, he completed 63.3% of his passes for 2,070 yards with eight affected and seven interceptions. The giants went 2-8 in its starts.
Richardson had trouble during his first two NFL seasons.

In 15 career games, Richardson has an 8-7 file, although Mark does not fully reflect his game. The former Florida star made just over 50% of his passes for 2,391 yards, with more interceptions (13) than affected (11).
The 23 -year -old was more effective as a runner, with 635 yards on the ground and 10 touched on the floor in career while making an average of almost six yards per attempt.
Last season, the colts finished 8-9 and ranked second in AFC South. Steichen hopes that Jones will be able to guide them to the playoffs for the first time since 2021.
