The old overall choice n ° 1 of New England Kenneth Sims died Friday at the age of 65.
Sims had fought against the disease and died in his sleep, by 247sports.
Sims, which was the first choice of the NFL of 1982 NFL, played eight years in the NFL, all with the Patriots. Through 74 career games, Sims recorded 17 bags.

Throughout his career in the NFL, Sims has treated numerous injuries. The only season in which he played in every game was 1984.
Defensive extinction underwent surgery in 1987, which limited it to 12 games. The following season, in 1988, he broke his Achilles tendon and played in a single match.
Sims played 15 games in 1989 before a knee injury broke out for the last game, then retired.

When Sims was drafted in 1982, he became the third Texas Longhorn to be chosen with the first choice.
After Sims supported the future professional football temple of renown Steve McMichael and Bill Acker in his second season in Texas, he burst on the scene of his junior season. Sims recorded 131 plated and was appointed All-Southwest conference and an All-American.
As a senior, Sims was appointed All-Southwest conference and again All-American, in addition to being the first Texas Longhorn to have won the Lombardi Prize.

The Lombardi Prize is awarded to the university football player who best illustrates the legendary head coach of the NFL, Vince Lombardi, focusing on character, discipline and excellence.
Still in his last year, Sims was the best defensive vote for the Heisman trophy after helping Texas to a 10-1-1 file and a Cotton Bowl victory in 1982.
During his collegial career, Sims had 322 plated, 29 bags, 50 plated for the loss, 15 forced escapes, seven escaped recovery and three blocked kicks.
