The 2025 NFL season officially begins next Thursday when the Dallas Cowboys visit the defending champion of the Super Bowl Philadelphia Eagles.
While the start of the season is looming, the League teams had to reduce their respective lists to 53 men at the end of Tuesday afternoon. While the Large Kendrick Bourne recipient was listed Tuesday on the initial depth classification of the New England Patriots, he was canceled the next day.
ESPN reported that the release of Bourne occurred shortly after asking the patriots a new start with another team.

Meanwhile, the defensive back Marcus Epps asked to be released on Cutdown day, according to the Boston Herald.

Truebel then clearly indicated that he did not intend to engage in a long exchange on the issue.
“I just said that I’m not going to enter it. You know what I mean? As, we are not going to come and go here,” he said. “We are trying to build a list. You have to go from some guys. You establish links with the guys. You train them. They earn more opportunities, they get more opportunities, they take advantage of them, and that’s the kind of the way these things happen.”

EPPS has spent time with three NFL franchises out of six seasons. He appeared in three games with Las Vegas raiders last year. Meanwhile, Bourne has spent the past four years with the Patriots. He finished the 2024 campaign with 28 receptions.
The Patriots welcome raiders on September 7 to launch their regular season slate.
