New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs has been charged with a series of serious criminal violations, according to Dedham County court documents. Boston 25 News was first to obtain the documents.
The charges reportedly include felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on December 2. Michael DiStefano, Diggs’ attorney, arrived at the courthouse Tuesday and filed a request to have the police report “impounded” to keep the details sealed, the outlet reported.

The four-time NFL Pro Bowler is scheduled to be arraigned on Jan. 23, just two days before the AFC Championship Game is scheduled to take place.
In a statement, the team acknowledged the situation and said the 32-year-old catcher denied the allegations against him.
