A violent postgame interaction regarding sign-stealing accusations has finally been resolved, Tennessee Titans head coach Robert Saleh said this week.
Saleh, who was the San Francisco 49ers’ defensive coordinator at the time, said his dispute with Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Liam Coen was “water under the bridge” after the two argued after a game last season.

The interaction following the 49ers’ loss to Jacksonville in Week 4 stemmed from Saleh’s pregame comments, in which he praised the Coen staff for their skill at legal “sign stealing.”

“They legally have a very advanced signal-stealing type system where they always find a way to put themselves in an advantageous situation,” he said at the time.
This remark led to a post-match brawl in which Coen was caught telling Saleh, “Keep my name out of your mouth.” Saleh responded by yelling at Coen, but later explained that he misspoke while trying to compliment the coach.

But less than a year later, the two coaches appear to be on good terms.

“We’re doing well,” Saleh said at the NFL’s annual league meetings this week. “I know the NFL probably wants more of a story, but there’s no story. I like Liam. Like I said, I used the wrong word when I was trying to pay him a compliment, but that’s all water under the bridge.”
Coen echoed this sentiment, adding that “we all respect what we do and how we do it in different ways.”

While the feud between the two has died down, the two coaches have now become division rivals after Saleh was hired as the Titans’ head coach in January.
