The Seattle Seahawks appeared to strengthen their wide receiver room on Tuesday, just before the NFL trade deadline.
According to ESPN, the New Orleans Saints have reached a deal with the Seahawks to send Rashid Shaheed, an emerging player, to Seattle in exchange for draft picks. New Orleans is expected to receive fourth- and fifth-round selections in next year’s NFL Draft as part of the deal.
Shaheed’s name was linked to numerous rumors before Tuesday’s trade deadline. The 27-year-old receiver’s roster cut comes just days after New Orleans suffered a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Shaheed is set to join a front office in Seattle that includes Pro Bowler Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The third-year forward has 948 receiving yards in eight games this season. Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp only has 293 receiving yards so far.
The arrival of Shaheed could also relieve rookie Tory Horton. The fifth-round pick has just 161 yards through the air, but has racked up five touchdown receptions in the eight games he has played.
