While Brooklyn Beckham’s relationship with his own family remains publicly broken, his wife Nicola Peltz Beckham has revealed that his team couldn’t be more welcoming, treating him like one of their own from the start.
“[They welcomed him] like another son,” said Nicola, 31. Elle Spain in a profile published on Friday March 20.
“He gets along very well with my brothers. They play a lot of football together.”
Nicola is one of eight children born to billionaire Nelson Peltz and model Claudia Heffner Peltz, giving Brooklyn a ready-made extended family to integrate into.
The couple met in 2019 at a Halloween party, Nicola arrived dressed as a cat, and married in 2022.
She recalled the early days of their courtship in the kind of detail that suggests she replayed it several times.
“When I walked in, he was looking at me,” she said. Brooklyn had only been in Los Angeles for ten days at the time, and Nicola, a self-described homebody who goes to bed early, threw her usual habits out the window to spend as much time with him as possible.
“We were together until 10 a.m., walking around the city and exploring,” she said. “We found excuses not to separate.”
It was a call to her mother the next morning that confirmed what she already suspected.
“She understood straight away: ‘If you stay up this late, it’s him,’ she said. She was right.”
The warmth of this welcome from Nicola’s family contrasts sharply with the situation of Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
In January, Brooklyn released a lengthy public statement claiming his parents tried to undermine his relationship before marriage and alleging they pressured him to give up the rights to his name in a deal he said would affect him, Nicola and his future children.
“My refusal affected payday, and they have never treated me the same way since,” he said.
Brooklyn also opened up about the personal toll of estrangement and the unexpected relief that followed.
“I was controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” he wrote.
“For the first time in my life, since moving away from my family, that anxiety is gone.”
He was unambiguous about his intentions for the future, saying he and Nicola just wanted “peace, privacy and happiness”.
David and Victoria have not publicly responded to the allegations, although they both posted tributes for Brooklyn’s birthday earlier in March, when he was 27.
A source close to the matter said Us every week that Brooklyn saw clearly.
“He thinks it’s just another way for them to save face with the public and it doesn’t seem to make sense,” the source said. “He doesn’t let this nonsense bother him.”
