- Nintendo discreetly deleted the mention of VRR support from some of its regional websites Switch 2
- United States, Canada and Japan websites no longer present VRR support
- During the writing, the British website still mentions the VRR, but could still be deleted
Nintendo has discreetly deleted any mention of the variable refresh rate support (VRR) of some of its regional SWITCH 2 websites, suggesting that the console may not offer functionality after all.
It is according to Oliver Mackenzie of Digital Foundry (via VGC), who stressed that the American website had been updated from the Switch 2 Nintendo Direct, and no longer mentions the VRR support for the anchored game.
Now it is read as follows: “Take all the details with screen resolutions up to 4K when you connect the Nintendo Switch 2 system to a compatible TV using the dedicated quay. The system also supports HDR and image frequencies up to 120 IPS on compatible televisions.”
It is not only the American website that has been updated, but also the sites of Canada and Japan.
During the editorial staff, the British site always mentions that the Switch 2 “supports HDR, VRR and the image frequencies up to 120 IPS on compatible televisions”, but Nintendo can be deleting from all its regional sites.
Strange things that take place in Nintendo. Looks like they changed their American website so that you no longer mention VRR support for television reading? Only HDR and 120 Hz support get a call. pic.twitter.com/3vmfdfrnvtApril 17, 2025
We do not know why Nintendo has made changes, but Mackenzie theorizes that VRR support may not be available during the launch. However, the Switch 2 on the pocket computer will always offer VRR thanks to Nvidia G-Sync, which will guarantee “an ultra-light and tear-free gameplay”.
Everything we needed to know about the SWITCH 2 specifications was revealed during the direct earlier this month, where it was also confirmed that the console will have a larger screen, from 6.2 inch to 7.9 inches, 256 GB of internal storage and a mouse function for its Joy-Con magnetic controllers.
The Nintendo Switch 2 should be launched on June 5, 2025, for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99 £ or $ 499.99 / 429.99 £ for a Mario Kart World pack.
You can now pre-order the console in the United Kingdom, but American pre-orders and Canada pre-orders have been delayed because Nintendo assesses the potential prices.
