- Nintendo should interrupt its reward scheme on the golden points
- From March 24, 2025, you will no longer be able to win them
- However, the points you earn will be exchangeable over 12 additional months
Nintendo confirmed that she was going to finish her eshop Gold Points Rewards program next month.
The announcement was made on the Official website of My Nintendo, confirming that the golden points gain will be interrupted on March 24, 2025. At the time of writing, the website currently returns an error for this page. But a FAQ (original by Go Nintendo) provides more details, reading:
“From 9:30 p.m. PDT on 03/24/2025, users will no longer be able to win my Nintendo gold points. Gold points will no longer be won for digital purchases on Nintendo Eshop after 9:30 p.m. 2025.
“The gold points will no longer be won on physical games that will be published after 03/24/2025. For physical games which were released no later than 03/24/2025, gold points can still be won by recording eligible titles within one year from the original release date of the game.
“All the golden points won will continue to be valid and exchangeable for 12 months after their issue. Please note that there is no change in the way you exchange the gold points that you have already won. “”
Suffed, it occurs about a week and a half before April 2 Nintendo Switch 2 direct. Nintendo has not currently announced a replacement for the Gold Points Rewards program, but there is a chance that the company can implement a new system when its new console is later this year.
Otherwise, it is definitely a shame. Gold points are a very good way to save money on digital purchases of the eShop. Like the PlayStation rewards, gold points are added to your Nintendo account after having recorded a physical game or bought a game digitally on the eShop. Over time, this allows players to save a substantial amount on the best Nintendo Switch games.
Nintendo confirmed that Nintendo accounts will be transferred to Nintendo Switch 2, therefore, could a higher Nintendo Eshop revision be in progress? Hopefully yes, because he certainly needs it.
