- Nintendo Switch 2 will be launched on June 5
- Nintendo unveiled Gameshare which allows users to play together on several consoles with a single cartridge
- This feature was known as download game on the Nintendo DS and was interrupted with the Wii U
Nintendo has just unveiled all the information from Nintendo Switch 2 that we expected, including a release date, a price and the showcase of Mario Kart World. Although this information can make the headlines, there is another announcement that fascinates me more.
Nintendo has just announced Gameshare, the spiritual successor of DS Download Play, and I cannot believe that we come back to the peak of the game, where friends could spend time on park benches and play multiplayer with a single game cartridge.
The download game was a must for Nintendo DS and 3DS and was then interrupted when Nintendo went from Wii U to Nintendo switch. Given the portable of the Nintendo switch, he always had the impression that the console was missing a feature like the download game, but now Nintendo has rectified this flagrant omission.
Gameshare will allow several owners Nintendo Switch 2 to play games like Mario Kart World in the local multiplayer without having to have more of a copy. It is an excellent feature for children because they can play with all their friends without everyone placing the price of a game.
If Gameshare looks like DS Download Play, everyone can access the same experience with a cartridge, so that you can choose tracks, karts and characters without any limitation.
The return of the sharing of local multiplayer games may not seem to be the most flashy revelation of the Nintendo Switch 2 direct, but it will be useful when you expect the least.
Back to glory days
Now may be my nostalgia that speaks, but the Mario Kart DS is one of my favorite games of all time thanks to DS Download Play. At the time when I had hair and no beard, I was a young child who played a lot of tennis at the summer camp. During these summers, Mario Kart DS was the best time of the day while my friends and I seated us outside under the sun and running with a single cartridge.
As a child, you have not always obtained the last games, and for multiplayer experiences, it was often a problem. The Nintendo DS has completely rectified this, allowing you to play competitively with others without beg your parents for more pocket money.
As an adult of 30 years now, I think Gameshare will be just as useful. You see, many of these children from the tennis camp are now adults, and just like at the time, we are still playing multiplayer games.
So, whether it is swinging at the Techradar office or meeting a companion in the pub, Gameshare will allow us to play the best games that Nintendo Switch 2 has to offer without having to buy a second copy.
