- DFC Intelligence estimates that the Nintendo Switch 2 could sell 16 million units before the end of the year
- It would make switch 2 the “most sold console ever ever” exceeding the switch, the PS4 and the Wii
- It also provides 100 million units sold by the end of 2029
The Nintendo Switch 2 is expected to sell 16 million units by the end of 2025 and 100 million units by the end of 2029.
It is according to the analyst’s firm of the DFC Intelligence industry, which has just published its new forecast report, which now seems to be deleted, for the Nintendo switch before the launch of the console next month (via Gamespot).
Initially, the company estimated that Switch 2 would sell 15 million by the end of the year, but it has now increased its forecasts to 16 million.
However, he believes that the console could sell up to 20 million “if manufacturing could meet demand”, but said that it was “unlikely” due to “the conservative approach to Nintendo.
It would make Switch 2 the “best -selling console of all time”, beating the Switch, Ps4 and Wii, which took a year to reach the course. Nintendo initially predicted 10 million sales for the original switch, but its expectations were exceeded when it reached 15 million.
16 million units by the end of 2025 are a daring prediction, but DFC Intelligence also estimates that Switch 2 has the potential to sell more than 100 million units by the end of 2029.
“The Switch 2, as well as the growth of mobile PC games, redefine the landscape of the video game industry,” he said. “DFC provides that at the end of 2029, the Switch 2 will have sold more than 100 million units, making it the main console system by a wide margin.”
The Nintendo switch was launched in 2017 and struck 100 million units sold by 2022. If the Switch 2 reached this step before the end of 2029, it could exceed the original by a large margin.
Nintendo himself predicts to sell 15 million units for the exercise. When asked by investors why the sales forecasts are so weak, the president of Nintendo Shuntaro Furukawa said that the high cost of the console is a key factor in its predictions, but believes that the descending compatibility of the console and the software bundles will increase sales before the end of the first year.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was launched worldwide on June 5, 2025, for $ 449.99 / £ 395.99. British pre -orders and American pre -orders are now live.
