Pakistan has not reported a single case of polio since February 10, 2025, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was informed at a revision meeting on Thursday.
Chairing the session on polio eradication efforts, the Prime Minister praised the labor of health authorities, international partners and front -line polio workers for their incessant commitment to eradicate the disease.
He ordered managers to intensify public awareness and guarantee the mobilization of the community when the country is preparing for its next anti-poolio campaign on a national scale from April 21.
“Each child under the age of five must receive the vaccine during this campaign,” said Shehbaz Sharif.
The Prime Minister also stressed the importance of maintaining routine immunization against other potentially fatal diseases as well as the polio campaign.
During the meeting, the officials informed the Prime Minister about the next anti-political campaign, which should take place from April 21 to 27. About 4.5 million children will be vaccinated during the one -week journey, with the participation of 415,000 polio workers across the country.
The performance of the campaign will undergo a third validation between April 28 and 30, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s instructions.
Officials also stressed that monitoring the cold chain for the campaign is managed by a digital surveillance system, guaranteeing the safety and efficiency of vaccines.
The meeting was followed by the Federal Minister of Health, Syed Mustafa Kamal, Special Polio representative of Polio Ayesha Raza Farooq, Minister of Sindh, Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho, chief secretaries of all provinces and territories, and representatives of international partner organizations.
