No extension of the deadline for declaration of income

Islamabad:

On Monday, the Federal Board of Return (FBR) said that the deadline for declaring income declarations for the 2025 fiscal year will not be extended beyond September 30 (Tuesday), unlike media reports.

In a statement, the Council said that it had noted unaccompanied reports traveling on various media platforms, which claimed that the deadline for declaring income declarations would be extended. He observed that certain elements have also tried to connect this extension perceived to recent floods.

“The Board of Directors categorically specifies that these reports are false, baseless and misleading,” said the press release, adding that the vast majority of taxpayers reside in areas not affected by floods and have had time to pay their national obligation to produce statements.

The FBR has also rejected the reports suggesting that its online income declaration system, Iris slowed down, calling them baseless. “IRIS is fully operational and works smoothly,” said the board of directors, noting that taxpayers can easily produce their declarations using the new simplified income declaration form.

The Commission has also warned taxpayers that the non-report of declarations on the due date will result in a truck-end status and penalties under the law.

He urged all taxpayers who are eligible to act responsible and produce their income statements with precision and honesty before the deadline of September 30, 2025 to avoid any legal consequence.

In the event of extreme difficulties, taxpayers can benefit from an extension of the declaration up to 15 days with the payment of maturity taxes before September 30, subject to approval by the committee concerned in accordance with the law.
