Karachi:
The leader of the Pakistani party of Awaam (APP), Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, said Thursday that no country could attract investments in the middle of political chaos and in the absence of the rule of law, stressing that no improvement should be expected until the country is governed by the Constitution.
Speaking on the “Meet the Press” program at the Karachi Press Club (KPC), Abbasi condemned India’s actions after the attack by Pahalgam, in particular the suspension of the Industry Water Treaty. “No one could be allowed to stop water. We must become one nation and face Indian aggression,” he said.
The former Prime Minister dilated on several questions that the country faces – from the controversy of the channels to the situation of the law and the order – and criticized the performance of the federal government. He also talked about the provision of infrastructure and services in Karachi.
“Karachi is the jugular vein of Pakistan, if it does not work, then Pakistan will not work,” Abbasi, who was the Prime Minister of the Year in 2017-2018, told journalists. “The conditions that will be in Karachi will be the same throughout Pakistan.”
He said that 70 of the Karachi population did not have access to tap water. “Where in the world, water is supplied by oil tankers.
On the question of the channels, he said that the delivered should have been raised in the Senate and the National Assembly. “Sindh is protesting today, which will have an impact on the whole country.” On Balutchistan, he said that the solution to his problem would only be found by discussions and listening to the concerns of its inhabitants.
Abbasi said that everywhere in global laws, laws have been promulgated for media freedom, “today is not the time to restrict the media” by using legislation. “Today, new provinces are necessary. Reforms are necessary, but unfortunately, the reforms were not discussed.
