Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur, chief minister, reiterated the unity of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) on Tuesday and warned that any decision to overthrow the provincial government by constitutional means would not succeed.

“No matter how much they try, our government cannot be shot by constitutional means,” said Gandapur. “If someone thinks I can reverse our government, I challenge them – I will leave politics.”

“Anyone who thinks he can create divisions within the PTI is wrong,” said CM Gandapur at a press conference because he was flanked by the central management of the PTI, after a party meeting in Islamabad.

The chief minister of KP said that the meeting of the day had transmitted a clear message of unity within the party.

“Our authority and this government belong entirely to the founder of the PTI. Each time it gives order, the government can be dissolved,” he said, adding: “You can not realize anything constitutionally.”

“Attack on judiciary”

To move forward, he said that the Constitution had been raped and that PTI’s mandate had been stolen. Gandapur condemned the 26th constitutional amendment, calling it “attack on the judiciary” and a “blotch on the judicial and democratic systems of Pakistan”.

“May 9 was only a pretext-the real target was the founder of our party,” he added, alleging lobbying efforts against PTI and that he was forced to make declarations against the founder of the PTI during his detention.

Gandapur allegedly alleged that he had been taken through Pakistan and had repeatedly asked to leave PTI. “Our mandate was first stolen, then our reserved seats were torn off,” he said.

Regarding the Kurram problem, he said that it was an inherited problem and that the road had remained open in the past four months. “Talk to your neighbors, change your policy. A neighboring country has defeated world powers, this border is not sure,” he warned.

He said he had a plan to impose an emergency in KP. “When the founder of the PTI was not in prison, he spoke of negotiations.”

‘Torn seats’

The president of the PTI, lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, said that the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan, had always called for a dialogue.

“We have examined the letter concerning negotiations with detained leaders. He has always emphasized a significant dialogue. Anyone wishing to make a motion of non-confidence is invited to try. Each plan will only be executed on the instructions of the founder of the PTI.”

He said that PTI leaders had been elected with the founder’s votes and that the objective of today’s meeting was to demonstrate the unit. “After these developments, our seats were torn off. References were sent against our MNA and sanctions were imposed. When we asked for meetings on the KP budget, they were refused.”

Lawyer Gohar said: “We will defend the KP government at all costs. Those who wish to bring a motion of non-confidence do not have the number.

For his part, the secretary general of PTI Salman Akram Raja said that February 8 was historic – people came out in large numbers.

“It is not a political war but a fight for rights. We will fight the war and the victory of the founder of the PTI will be upon us.”

PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram demanded a judicial commission from the chief judge to investigate the death of imprisoned PTI workers. “Many were released after 10 or 11 months in prison – and most left sick.”

PTI KP president Junaid Akbar said all leaders of the National Assembly and KP Assembly were present in Reunion. “Despite the internal differences, we will act on each order of the founder of the PTI.”
